Hamilton Dormer

With hopes to one day have a finished loft space to hang out in, a client approached us about punching through their roof to create a dormer with added space and light. After just 3 days, here is the final result.

It was once difficult to that many places in this attic to stand up without worrying about your head. now this entire half doesn't have that problem. This is going to make a great lounge or studio office space in time to come.

before

The loft was unfinished which made framing from the inside before creating a hole simple. When working on a roof we make sure to leave the house exposed as little as possible. we had to delay construction 1 day due to rain, but sometime you have to respect the weather.

After

When we broke through we found 4 layers of shingles and a layer of cedar shake shingles. way more that what is allowed. This made cutting the hole difficult and we went through more than a few blades, but were not afraid of getting dirty.

With plans to finish this space within the next year, we'll be back. And we can't wait.
