Unionville Suburban Home
A Professional baker gets her dream kitchen amongst other things
This dated kitchen featured a florida light with large framing boxes surrounding it which dropped the 10' ceiling height back down to 8'. Removing that and reframing the ceiling joists and support beams we opened up this space and maintained a flat ceiling. A new laundry room, new floors throughout, and a new fireplace mantle bring this home straight into modern day design.
Before
Kitchen
With plenty of water on hand for the demo ahead, we were more than thrilled to get rid of these framing boxes, which existed just to frame in the Florida light (a past trend).
After
Kitchen
With the ceiling reframed to allow it to be flat, we saw a dramatic impact in the way natural light enters and fills the room. Gorgeous.
Here Comes The Hardwood
We installed Tile In the front Vestibule and laundry room, and hardwood everywhere else.
Demolition Stage
This awkward entryway used to contain a closet and a junk desk. It also provided support for the floor ahead. We needed to resort the 2nd floor in order to open up this spaces potential.
Framing And Infrastructure Complete
Not an issue to re-support the floor above. We installed a new flush support beam. (lighter wood in ceiling) At this point we are ready to bring on the drywall.
Drywall, Almost Complete
We had to reroute all heat ducts to this side of the house to make way for the cabinets
Progress Progress Progress
Rerouting the cold air return was more tricky, but we worked out a way for the duct to run both beneath and above the cabinets to be out of sight and functioning properly.
Bar Area. Notice The Cold Air Return Is Unseen.
The Laundry Room Remained The Same But Got A Floor, Paint, Lighting(Not Shown), And Cabinet Facelift
